BOUCHOT (Frédéric). Ce que parler veut dire. [Paris, Aubert, 1837]. In-4, mitre-mounted, purple morocco basane, double framed with gilt fillets and scrolls at the corners, gilt title on the upper cover, smooth mute spine, gilt edges (Period binding). First edition of this very rare suite, complete with 30 lithographs by Frédéric Bouchot (IFF, no. 32), each captioned with a short dialogue humorously underlining the hypocrisy of social conventions.
Proofs finely coloured and gummed at the time.
A very fine copy in a luxurious contemporary binding. A 16-page publisher's catalogue is bound at the end of the volume.
Small tear repaired in the margin of three plates. Binding skilfully restored.
