In-4, brown calf, coats of arms in the centre, spine decorated, spotted edges (Binding of the period). First edition of this biography of Pierre d'Aubusson (1423-1503), 40th Grand Master of the Order of St John of Jerusalem, dedicated by the Jesuit Dominique Bouhours to his patron, François III d'Aubusson, Duc de La Feuillade. Gantrel and L. Cassin after P. Sevin.
A copy bearing the arms of the Dukes of La Rochefoucauld, with an ex-libris stamp from the library of the Château de La Roche-Guyon and a shelf label at the end.
Top cap missing, water stain on second board, minor rubbing, worm gallery at bottom of pp. 89-134, light wetness at head of a few leaves.
