BOULLE CLOCK ON PLINTH Louis XV, Paris, middle of the 18th century. The dial and movement are signed Herbault à Paris and numbered N 171 (Louis-François Herbault, maître from 1743). Curved wooden case with Boulle marquetry in brown-backed tortoiseshell and engraved brass, decorated with tendrils, flowers and leaves. Rich bronze mounts in the form of rocailles, leaves, reeds, palm trees, as well as a door bronze featuring a fox and a raven (see the fable by La Fontaine). Curved and bombé base. Relief-decorated dial with white enamel cartouches. Later blued hands. Movement converted to anchor escapement and half-hour strike on bell. 1 key. 46 × 24 × 130 cm. The movement is currently working, but may require revision. The inner base plate with later marquetry and there are minor losses to the marquetry. Geschweiftes Holzgehäuse mit Boulle-Marketerie in braun unterlegtem Schildpatt und graviertem Messing, Dekor in Form von Rankenwerk, Blumen und Blättern. Reicher Bronzebeschlag in Form von Rocaillen, Blättern, Schilf, Palmen sowie Türbronze mit Fuchs und Rabe (Fabel von La Fontaine). Geschweifter und bombierter Sockel. Reliefiertes Zifferblatt mit weissen Emaille-Kartuschen. Spätere gebläute Zeiger. Werk umgebaut auf Ankergang und Halbstundenschlag auf Glocke. 1 Schlüssel. 46 × 24 × 130 cm. Werk zurzeit gehfähig, evtl. zu revidieren. Innere Bodenplatte mit späterer Marketerie sowie kleinere Fehlstellen an Marketerie. Restauriert.
