18k (750 thousandths) yellow gold bracelet enamelled in the mid-19th century baroque style with diamonds from different periods telling the story of diamond cutting. Transparent orange-red and royal blue enamel (missing) set on chased gold. Beautiful chasing motifs on the outer edge and on the various parts of the jewel. The openwork central plate is embellished with three screw-fastened modules. One of them is attached by a metal wire. It closes with a rack-and-pinion clasp, with the plate holding the press stud broken off and slid into the gap. Very long safety chain in antique Venetian mesh. Restoration is required. This bracelet features different types of diamonds whose history dates back to the 16th century! First there is the old single cut, which is an octahedron whose two points are abraded and whose edges are smoothed, then the more complex Mazarin cut, which arrived in the 17th century, followed by the Peruzzi cut and finally the old mine cut of the 18th century. Each of these particular cuts can be found on this bracelet, suggesting that old family jewellery was used to make it, as was customary in centuries gone by.
