First edition of one of the masterpieces of American science fiction. The author's second book, The Martian Chronicles brings together short stories published in magazines between 1945 and 1950 and new stories written especially for this collection, in order to provide a coherent history of the colonisation of the planet Mars. It was translated into French in 1954 to inaugurate the Présence du futur collection. An excellent copy in original condition, complete with illustrated dust jacket (with price $2.50), spine slightly faded.
