Warszawy / Monachium. Rahmen. Provenienz: Privatsammlung Norddeutschland. Im tiefen Schnee fährt eine Kolonne mit Kutschen, Reitern und Hunden durch ein kleines Dorf. Es sind Jäger, die zur winterlichen Jagd aufbrechen. Zu der Gruppe gehören wohl noch weitere Wagen, denn ein Reiter dreht sich rufend um, als fordere er seine Begleiter auf, sich zu beeilen. Einer antiquarischen Postkarte mit dem Gemälde kann man den Originaltitel entnehmen: "Wyjazd na Polowanie" - Aufbruch zur Jagd. Solch belebte Jagdszenen gehörten zu Josef von Brandts liebsten Genremotiven. Insbesondere die realistische Darstellung der Tiere in effektvoller Bewegung verdeutlicht das große künstlerische Geschick des polnischen Malers. Ins Detail geht von Brandt auch bei den Gewändern der warm gekleideten Jäger - sogar das Strickmuster einer Mütze ist deutlich erkennbar. Josef von Brandt gehört zu den bedeutendsten polnischen Malern des 19. Jahrhunderts. Er studierte Malerei in Paris und München. Nach Reisen durch seine Heimat Polen wurde er 1863 fest in München ansässig. Bekannt wurde von Brandt vor allem durch seine lebendigen Schlachtenszenen mit detailgetreuen Darstellungen von Kosaken, Reitern und Pferden, aber auch realistische Genreszenen auf dem Märkten und bei der Jagd gehörten zu seinem Repertoire. The convoy consists of huntsmen on their way to a wintry hunt. Probably there are even more carriages belonging to this group, because one of the horsemen is turning around, shouting as if to ask his companions to hurry. The original title of this painting "Wyjazd na Polowanie" - Start to the Hunt - can be learned from an antiquarian postcard. Such vivid hunting scenes belonged to Josef von Brandt's favoutrite genre motifs. The great artistic skills of the Polish painter can particularly be made out in the realistic depiction of the animals in effectful motion. Also the warm clothes of the huntsmen are depicted in detail so that even the knitting pattern of one cap is clearly visible. Josef von Brandt is one of the most important Polish painters of the 19th century. He studied painting in Paris and Munich. After a couple of journeys through his home country, Poland, he settled in Munich in 1863. Especially his vivid slaughtering scenes with a detailled depiction of Cossacks, horsemen and horses made von Brandt known, but also his realistic genre scenes on markets and on the hunt were part of his repertoire.
