Wife of the Bacchelli goldsmith, she designed jewellery for him and for prestigious houses such as Van Cleef & Arpels and Buccellati. The first woman to obtain a driving licence in Italy, she was also a pioneer among businesswomen. A refined illustrator working in silverpoint, she drew her inspiration from nature. Her creations, sold under the name Orisa, seduced the House of Savoy and the Vanderbilts. A devout Catholic, she refused a commission from Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton in the 1960s, disapproving of their affair.
