BRONZE AGE COPPER ALLOY AXE HEAD Ca. 3rd - 2nd Millennium BC. A cast copper alloy axe head with a vertical flaring blade at one end and a horizontal adze-like blade at the other. A central socket pierces the body between the two blades, intended for hafting. The vertical blade has a triangular form with a curved cutting edge, while the horizontal blade extends in a broad, flattened arc perpendicular to the shaft. Size: 210mm x 90mm; Weight: 1.05kg Provenance: From the collection of a London gentleman; formerly acquired in the early 2000s in France; previously in 1970s European collection.
