BRONZE FIGURE OF ANDROMEDA Probably Florence, 17th century. After a model by Pietro Da Barga (known 1574-1588) Bronze with a brown patina. A standing, nude figure of Andromeda leaning against a rock. Long, parted hair with a swept-up hairdo at the back. The left foot with an ankle cuff. Mounted on a later wooden base. H 27.5 cm, H with plinth 33.5 cm. Provenance: - according to records, from the Adams Collection, London. - Swiss private collection, acquired in the 1980s/90s from the above. Patina rubbed in places. Verdigris (especially on the thighs and shoulders). Small casting defect and hole on the back. Modern mounting screw on the plinth. A comparable statuette, kept in the Museo Nazionale del Bargello (inv. no. 424), is attributed to Pietro Da Barga (documented 1574–1588). Although they are of the same size, the statuettes show slight differences in their execution, with the example on offer lacking the arm cuffs and the facial features being rendered differently. ------------------------------------------------- BRONZEFIGUR ANDROMEDA Wohl Florenz, 17. Jh. Nach einem Vorbild von Pietro Da Barga (bekannt 1574–1588) Bronze braun patiniert. Stehende, nackte Figur der Andromeda gegen einen Felsen gelehnt. Langes, gescheiteltes Haar mit rückseitiger Hochsteckfrisur. Der linke Fuss mit einer Fussfessel. Auf späterem Holzsockel montiert. H 27,5 cm, H mit Sockel 33,5 cm. Provenienz: - der Überlieferung nach Sammlung Adams, London. - Schweizer Privatbesitz, in den 1980/90er Jahren bei obigem erworben. Patina stellenweise berieben. Grünspan (vor allem an Oberschenkel und Schulterbereich). Kleiner Gussfehler und Loch auf der Rückseite. Moderne Befestigungsschraube am Sockel. Eine vergleichbare Statuette, verwahrt im Museo Nazionale del Bargello (Inv.-Nr. 424) wird Pietro Da Barga (dokumentiert 1574–1588) zugeschrieben. Obwohl diese von gleicher Dimension sind, so weisen sie doch kleine Unterschiede in der Ausführung auf, wobei das unsere Exemplar ohne Armfessel ist und die Gesichtszüge anders gestaltet sind.
