BRONZE FIGURE OF “HERCULES FARNESE” - The Embden Collection
France, ca. 1800. Based on a model from Antiquity.
Bronze cast in several parts, brown patina. Leaning on a branch covered with lion skin, holding three apples in his right hand behind his back. On a matching rectangular bronze plinth.
H 42.5 cm.
Isolated casting defects. Rubbed. Break in the base.
Provenance:
The Arlette and Antony Embden Collection, France.
The original is now on display at the National Archaeological Museum in Naples.
