BRONZE LOTUS FLOWER INCENSE BURNER
Ca. 19th Century AD
A bronze lotus-shaped incense burner featuring a lotus bud at the top. The petals of the lotus are detailed and meticulously carved, creating a symmetrical form. This part can be opened and closed by turning the lotus bud clockwise to secure it and anticlockwise to reveal the interior. The base of the incense burner is adorned with repeated horizontal bands encircling the lower section of the cup. These decorative bands incorporate small, repeating patterns. The lower base is further embellished with intricate carvings, forming a decorative stepped plinth that supports the entire structure. This base culminates in a flat tortoise, which rests at the very bottom.
