A good descriptive work of this Himalayan region shared by India, Pakistan and China, who are fighting over this territory, which was under British administration in Bruce's time. Charles Granville Bruce (1866-1939), an officer in the Indian Army (he ended his career with the rank of General), made many expeditions to the Himalayas. This difficult peak was not actually conquered until 1954 by an Italian expedition led by P. Ghiglione, during which the mountaineer Barenghi was killed.
