Leaves, full colour illustrated cover, red velvet folder with gold titled spine, green velvet slipcase, slightly faded and rubbed (publisher's slipcase). First edition illustrated with 23 plates of uniforms in colour, including a frontispiece portrait of General Rollet, 25 plates of reproductions in black, and numerous drawings in black in the text. One of the 25 first copies on Lafuma pur fil paper, containing a black continuation of the 25 uniforms plates. The subscription form has been kept with the copy. A very good copy in its slipcase in the colours of the Légion étrangère.
