First collective edition in French of the two great voyages of the Dutch painter and explorer Cornelis de Bruyn, published by the Abbé Banier, who revised and expanded them with an abridgement of Des Monceaux's voyage, previously unpublished. The original Dutch editions of the two voyages appeared in 1698 and 1711 respectively, and were first published in French translation in 1700 and 1718. The illustrations consist of a portrait of the author engraved by Scotin, 5 folding maps and 85 plates out of text (including 12 folding plates), mostly engraved after drawings by the author. Worn bindings, upper case missing from two volumes, scattered brown spotting, title of second volume spotted with ink, spotting and worm work at foot of last two volumes.
