BRUYN (known as Corneille Le Brun). VOYAGE THROUGH MUSCOVY, PERSIA AND THE EAST INDIES. The route followed by Mr Isbrants, Ambassador of Muscovy, in crossing Russia and Tartary on his way to China, has been added. And some remarks against Messrs Chardin & Kempfer. With a letter written to the author on this subject. Amsterdam, Wetstein brothers, 1718. In-folio, brown basane, spine ribbed and decorated (contemporary binding). First volume only (of 2); it is illustrated with a large frontispiece, a portrait of the author, 54 beautiful plates sometimes folding (views, various scenes, costumes, natural history...) often with several subjects, including a very large PANORAMA OF THE CITY OF ISPAHAN MEASURING 1.80 METRES IN LENGTH, 24 hors-texte engravings and 3 folding maps. Minor foxing, light marginal rings on last few leaves, small repair in margin on a few pages. Binding worn and missing. (Chadenat 4772).
