In-8, marbled calf, ornate smooth spine, fillet framed in cold on the boards, red edges (Binding of the period). This manual in the form of a dictionary describes 493 common or exotic plants, and explains their nutritional and dietetic functions, their use in cooking, their preservation or distillation.
All known copies of this book do not have a masthead and include the 2 pages of the preface on very fine paper.
Buc'hoz (1731-1807), a native of Metz, was physician to King Stanislas of Poland before teaching botany in Nancy.
Copy without the 2 preface leaves. Fine restorations to the binding, including renewal of the gilt roulettes on the edges, and renewal of the endpapers.
