A rosewood veneered lady's desk in violet wood frames, standing on four cambered legs and opening to three drawers decorated with flowering branches in butt-wood. Rich ormolu ornamentation.

Hôtel Meurice furniture sale
- A smaller desk stamped BVRB from the former Porgès collection, sold at Christie's London on 7 December 1995, lot 108 (£350,000). The lock escutcheons are identical to ours but the falls are distinguished by bouquets of flowers.
- A desk stamped BVRB with the same gilded bronzes including the falls, said to come from the collections of King Umberto of Italy, sold by Sotheby's Monaco on 3 March 1990 (FF4,400,400).
- a desk stamped BVRB, Hôtel Drouot sale, 7 May 1942, lot 20 (reproduced by J. Nicolay, op. cit., p. 84, fig. E). This desk is probably the closest to ours.
