BYZANTINE BLACK INTAGLIO WITH CROWNED CROSS IN GOLD RING. Ca. AD 500 - 600. An oval black intaglio engraved with a Latin cross standing on a stepped base, flanked by two smaller crosses. A laurel wreath encircles the central cross, arching symmetrically around it. The intaglio is set in a 21 c possibly later gold ring.
