BYZANTINE BRONZE CROSS DEPICTING CRUCIFIXION
Ca. AD 900 - 1200.
A cast bronze cross with each arm expanding into lobed finials. The obverse depicts the figure of Christ with arms extended laterally and palms outturned. His body is rendered in a columnar form, with ribbed drapery cascading from the shoulders to the feet. The reverse is plain and undecorated.
