BYZANTINE GLASS EULOGIA JUG.
Ca. AD 500 - 700
A mould-blown glass eulogia jug with a tall rectangular body and slightly rounded shoulders above a concave base bearing a pontil mark. The sides are formed with recessed panelled moulding, the body narrowing to a tall neck that flares to a wide funnel mouth with a folded rim, and an applied strap handle runs from the upper shoulder to the rim.
Size: 130mm x 60mm; Weight: 65g.
Provenance: Private London collection; previously acquired from a Belgian collection (1980s-1990s).
