BYZANTINE GLASS FLASK WITH TRAILED OPENWORK DECORATION.
Ca. AD 500 - 600
A pale green free-blown glass flask with an apple-shaped body set on a depressed base and rising to a wide circular mouth. From rim to shoulder, heavy glass trails are drawn out and tacked down in a continuous zigzag band around the circumference.
Size: 70mm x 65mm; Weight: 60g.
Provenance: Private London collection; previously acquired from a Belgian collection (1980s-1990s).
