BYZANTINE GLAZED BOWL WITH WHITE SPIRALS - EX ASHMOLEAN MUSEUM.
Ca. AD 1200 - 1400 A glazed bowl with a wide everted rim and a tapering lower body set on a short foot. The interior is coated in a brown glaze and decorated in white slip with three large opposed spirals linked by curving bands, with smaller motifs between. An encircling border of elongated white oval motifs runs around the rim. Size: 70mm x 140mm; Weight: 308g. Provenance: Property of a central London gallery; Ex James Alfred Brew (1923–2008), collected in Cyprus, predominantly during the 1960s. Thence by descent to Elaine Brew.
