BYZANTINE GOLD CROSS WITH CENTRAL RED GARNET CABOCHON.
Ca. AD 600 .
A gold cross with flared arms, the intersection set with a circular bezel housing a garnet cabochon in a plain collet. The arm faces are decorated with fine chased foliate chevrons within narrow borders. A rounded suspension loop is set above.
