BYZANTINE GOLD CROSS WITH GARNETS AND EMERALD CABOCHONS Ca. AD 600. A gold cross pendant composed of four circular cells joined around a central fifth cell, each bordered with a ring of granulation and additional applied granules in triangular arrangements. The central setting contains an emerald cabochon, while the four surrounding cells are inlaid with garnets. Ribbed, cylindrical suspension loops are soldered to the end of each arm. Size: 26mm x 24.3mm; Weight: 2.61g Provenance: Private London collection; previously French art market 1970s/1980s. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
