BYZANTINE GOLD PATTÉE CROSS PENDANT WITH CENTRAL RED CARNELIAN CABOCHON. Ca. AD 600. A gold pendant in the form of a cross pattée, each flaring arm terminating in a rounded loop for attachment. The front face is covered in close-set granules within plain borders. At the centre sits a circular collet set with a carnelian cabochon, encircled by a beaded ring. For similar see: G. P.
