BYZANTINE GOLD RING WITH CENTRAL SAPPHIRE AND EMERALDS. Ca. AD 500 - 700. A gold ring with a raised bezel enclosing a domed sapphire cabochon, encircled by a wreath of small annular emerald beads threaded on a perimeter wire. The bezel is supported by a slender, rounded hoop of circular section.
