BYZANTINE HIGH KARAT GOLD CROSS PENDANT WITH BANDED GLASS CABOCHON Ca. AD 500 - 700. A 21.5 kt gold cross pendant composed of four tubular arms, each decorated with a central row of applied granules. At the intersection, a circular bezel holds a nicolo gem with a flat face and dark core. The reverse mirrors the granulated decoration along each arm. A single suspension loop is affixed to the upper arm.
