BYZANTINE HIGH KARAT GOLD RING WITH CHI-RHO AND A CROSS PENDANT.

AD 500 - 700 A pair of gold ornaments, including, from left to right: a ring with a twisted hoop supporting a navette-shaped bezel framed by a border of small bosses and inset with a pale intaglio incised with Chi-Rho monogram; and a cross-shaped pendant with four outward-flaring arms, the front densely decorated with rows of granules around a central cabochon, each arm terminating in a loop. Size: 15-21mm x 12-20mm; Weight: 4.7g. Provenance: Private London collection; acquired in Belgium; formerly in a German private collection before 2000. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
