BYZANTINE HOLLOW HIGH KARAT GOLD CROSS PENDANT WITH CENTRAL EMERALD.
Ca. AD 600 - 800 A gold cross pendant formed with four trumpet-shaped hollow arms radiating from a central circular bezel containing an emerald inset. Each arm is modelled as a flaring faceted cone joined to the centre by a short globular collar. A suspension tube is attached above the upper arm. Size: 45mm x 35mm; Weight: 6g. Provenance: Private London collection; acquired in Germany; formerly with S.T. collection, Switzerland, 1980s-2000s. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
