BYZANTINE HOLLOW HIGH KARAT GOLD CROSS PENDANT WITH EMERALD.
Ca. AD 500 - 700 A hollow gold cross pendant with slightly waisted tubular arms divided into rectangular panels by beaded ribs, each panel centred by a single granule. At the junction, a large emerald cabochon is mounted in a square collet framed by four bosses. Each arm is finished with a rounded boss, and a rounded suspension loop is attached to the upper arm. Size: 35.9mm x 33.4mm; Weight: 6.7g. Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of an early 2000s UK ancient art collection; formerly in the collection of G.M., prior to 1996. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
