BYZANTINE INLAID PENDANT DEPICTING CROSS Ca. AD 600 - 700. A circular bronze pendant with a raised border and suspension loop, inlaid with coloured enamel forming a geometric cross pattern. The design consists of four triangular green fields alternating with four yellow segments and red circular bosses, all outlined in thin bronze strips. Small blue triangular cells and yellow semi circles are set at the interstices. The reverse is plain and features a vertical reinforcement bar. Size: 52mm x 43mm; Weight: 45g Provenance: Private UK collection; previously acquired on the Belgian art market in the 1990s.
