BYZANTINE ROCK-CRYSTAL STAMP SEAL DEPICTING ST. GEORGE KILLING THE DRAGON Ca. AD 900 - 1200.
A conical rock-crystal stamp seal with a flat octagonal face engraved with an image of St. George on horseback, shown galloping to the left with a spear in his hands. Beneath the horse is the sinuous form of the dragon, its head upturned in confrontation. The upper end is capped with a silver mount terminating in a suspension loop.
