BYZANTINE SGRAFFITO WARE FOOTED CUP WITH FALCON - EX ASHMOLEAN MUSEUM.
Ca. AD 1300 - 1400 A sgraffito ware footed cup with a broad bowl rising from a conical lower body and flared circular foot. The interior shows a large falcon in the well with scattered green and yellow splashes and a band of the same colours running around the rim. The exterior upper section has a frieze of scrolling volutes and dotted motifs between plain bands, highlighted with further touches of green and yellow glaze. Size: 101mm x 134mm; Weight: 402g.
