BYZANTINE SGRAFFITO WARE FOOTED CUP WITH GEOMETRIC MOTIF - EX ASHMOLEAN MUSEUM.
Ca. AD 1300 - 1400 A sgraffito ware footed cup with a rounded bowl rising from a broad flared foot. The exterior is decorated with a pair of encircling incised lines above a series of long tapering vertical strokes, with splashes of yellow and green glaze over a pale slip. The interior displays a central medallion with incised opposed scrolls divided by a narrow band, encircled by a plain cavetto and an upper border of small trails between concentric lines under a transparent glaze highlighted with yellow and green streaks.
