Ca. AD 190 - 217. A marble head of the Empress Julia Domna, wife of the Emperor Septimius Severus, depicted with well-defined features typical of the Severan dynasty. The characteristic melon hairstyle, is depicated with horizontal streaks, along with the penetrating gaze and well-defined pupils, are unmistakable and recurring elements in the portraits of this particular empress.
