SILVER LIQUEUR CABARET (950) AUX ARMOIRIES D'ALLIANCE LA ROCHEFOUCAULD x LIGNE Goldsmith Odiot Paris, late 19th-early 20th century The tray with handles, in an agitated form, resting on four "toupie" feet; decorated with crosses and cinquefoils, the gallery and the six flask-holders with openwork decoration of gadroons and foliage, the edges with pearl mouldings; engraved in a cartouche with the coat of arms of the La Rochefoucauld / Ligne alliance, with the supports and the motto "C'EST MON PLAISIR"; the flasks are missing, four screws under the base of the tray, scratches from use. Goldsmith's hallmark Minerve hallmark H. 10.8 cm (4 ¼ in.) L.: 45 cm approx. (circa 17 ¾ in.) l. 37 cm (14 ½ in.) Gross weight : 3 Kg 371 An armorial silver liquor stand, by Odiot, Paris, late 19th century, with the coat of arms of Duke Sosthène II de La Rochefoucauld and Marie de Ligne Sosthène II de la Rochefoucauld, 4th Duke of Doudeauville, 1st Duke of Bisaccia, Grand of Spain 1st class, Bailiff Grand Cross of the Order of Malta, Member of Parliament for Sarthe, French Ambassador to London (1825-1908). His mansion at 47 rue de Varenne is now the headquarters of the Italian Embassy in Paris. He also owned La Vallée aux Loups in Chatenay-Malabry, a former Chateaubriand estate. After marrying Princess Yolande de Polignac, who died in 1855, he married Marie Georgine, Princesse de Ligne (1843-1898) on 8 July 1862 in Beloeil, Belgium. Both were painted by Léon Bonnat.
