CABINET Renaissance, Augsburg, late 16th century. Ash, walnut, papel, burlwood and partly tinted fruitwoods all inlaid. Rectangular body with hinged front and hinged lid, the outside inlaid with fillets. Panelled sides with iron handles. The hinged drawer decorated with a trophy in a rectangular reserve, framed by foliate scrolls with flowers and fruit and with architectural scrolls. The hinged lid opens onto a compartment, the interior with a round central medallion depicting a parrot in a landscape. Behind the front drawer, ten drawers are grouped around double doors, under a row of blind drawers. Inlaid with a ruin capriccio, partly with repeating patterns. Wooden handles. Gilt iron fittings with guilloché decoration. Iron lock (possibly later). 2 keys. 136 × 38 × 62 cm. Esche, Nussbaum, Papel, Wurzelmaser sowie teils getönte Früchtehölzer eingelegt. Rechteckiger Korpus mit abklappbarer Front sowie aufklappbarem Deckel, aussen mit Filets eingelegt. Kassettierte Seiten mit Eisentraggriffen. Die abklappbare Lade mit Waffentrophäe in rechteckiger Reserve, gerahmt von Blattvoluten mit Blumen und Früchten sowie Architekturvoluten. Der Klappdeckel öffnend auf Fach, innen mit rundem zentralem Medaillon, Darstellung eines Papageis in Landschaft. Hinter der Frontlade ein Gericht mit zehn um Doppeltüre gruppierten Schubladen, unter einer Reihe von blinden Schubladen. Intarsiert mit Ruinencapriccio, teils mit wiederholenden Mustern. Holzgriffe. Guillochierte, vergoldete Eisenbeschläge. Eisenschloss (evtl. später). 2 Schlüssel. 136 × 38 × 62 cm. Risse und Fehlstellen, alte Restaurierungen und Kittungen.
