COMMEMORATIVE FRAME ACCOMPANIED BY A HANDWRITTEN NOTE "Spurs, pommel, sabre fittings of generals broken during the battle of the Pyramids and collected after the Victory at Embaled the following day, 5 thermidor An VII, at the said place by me, Jean Ours Agostini Brigadier General Menou 5th Divon". It contains elements of sabres and equipment in gilded and chased bronze: - Two sabre handles, one with a lion's head and the other with an eagle's head; - Three scabbard fittings with foliate scroll decoration; - Three scabbard fittings with foliate scroll decoration; - A pair of spurs decorated with eagle heads, holding a small wheel; - A pommel and a boss decorated with a lion's head. General Jacques Menou led the 5th division at the centre of the French offensive. It was the attack by the Bon and Menou divisions that decided the victory of the French over the Janissaries.
