CALABAR, Cross River region, Nigeria. Terracotta pseudo-bottle decorated with geometric motifs and surmounted by a head representing a stylised human head with a flattened face. Presumed to date from the XIV-XVI century. Height: 30 cm. Provenance: Collection of a couple of collectors, Blois. Acquired in January 2006 from the Afrique Noire gallery, K et JF Parry, 54 rue Mazarine, Paris 6 (certificate attached).
