CALLENDER (James Henry). Memoranda during tour of the continent of Europe, made in later part of year 1834. S. L., by the author, 1834. In-4°, full buff leather binding, cold-stamped ornaments on boards and spine, cold-stamped title on spine (Modern binding). Important travel manuscript (154 unnumbered pages), richly illustrated: 4 fold-out maps, 3 in colour, 4 fold-out panoramas, including a large lithographed and watercoloured panorama of the Col de Balme by Dubois and a large panorama of the Mont Blanc range taken above La Flégère by Dubois, 5 fold-out engravings, 5 full-page engravings, including À la Flégère, an aquatint by Samuel Birmann (the others represent monuments) and 2 fold-out tables. James Henry Callander (1803 - 1851) was a Scottish politician. He was Member of Parliament for Argyllshire from 1832 to 1835.
