CAMBODIA AND VIETNAM, EARLY 20th CENTURY
Four bronze statuettes, two of which form pendants, depicting dancers, probably produced as part of the School of Cambodian Arts set up by the French in Phnom Penh in 1917 to encourage a revival of Cambodia's artistic traditions; the other two statuettes, of a popular nature, depict a trident-wielding deity (Vishnu?) standing on a feline, and a wrestler.
H. 8 cm to 16 cm.

Provenance: Senior military official of the colonial administration in Indochina from 1937 to 1944, and by descent.
