A very fine proof on strong white vellum, from the 3rd state (of 4), before the new sizes on the clouds on the left. Small pinholes in the corners. A tiny foreign body on the surface forming a brown spot under the lower left corner of the copper. Slight light foxing. Edition of 3 or 4 proofs of this state. Total edition of approximately 15 proofs, all states combined, during the artist's lifetime (in addition to the posthumous 1923 edition of 12 proofs). NB: A FEW SMALL TEARS ON THE EDGES, WHICH OCCURRED DURING THE PRINTING.
