Fully carved cane
In wood and monoxyle. Curved grip ending in a dog's head.
Carved, polychrome and varnished shaft decorated with a pair of crossed French flags, then a bearded man in a three-piece suit, holding a cane in one hand and the other hand on his stomach, resting on a base decorated with tassels at the corners. In the lower register, a dog sniffs a rabbit, and in three niches birds perch on curved columns separated by a Corinthian column. The next register features superb bouquets of flowers in vases adorned with diamond latticework. The long lower register features a long snake coiling around the shaft, along with blackberry or hop stems, about to swoop down on a bird. The last part of the cane is decorated with a trompe l'oeil gaiter, fastened with five buttons.
