CARCO (Francis). Tableau de l'amour vénal. Paris, Nouvelle Revue Française, 1924. In-4, pink morocco, gilt title on upper cover set in a gold mosaic decoration showing a stylized woman in front, with a black mosaic listel running down the spine and to the lower cover, ornate smooth spine, spine lined with pink morocco mosaic with two black listels and a black patch, gilt edges on witnesses, cover and spine, folder and slipcase (Pierre Legrain). Illustrated with 12 original lithographs by Luc-Albert Moreau. Unique first copy, on Japon impérial marked A, accompanied by 11 original pencil drawings, all signed and titled by the artist "étude pour l'amour vénal", and most dated 1922; these drawings are therefore not drafts of the plates but very accomplished sketches, it also contains a double suite of lithographs. Remarkable original binding signed by Pierre Legrain in the purest Art Deco style. Binding not mentioned in the directory of 1236 bindings by P. Legrain published by the Blaizot bookshop in 1965, which mentions two bindings on this title but describes only one (no. 123), the other - perhaps this one - being at the time "not found" (no. 124). Partial split in the hinge of the dust jacket.
