Large group of bacchantes with the triumph of Silen
Bronze, gilded. Composed on a rectangular natural plinth, bevelled at the corners, a lively multi-figure group in the tradition of Clodion. In the centre, the bearded, drunken Silen with a lyre, holding on to a bacchante striding beside him with a raised tambourine, in front of them a leaping billy goat and a dancing satyr playing a flute, behind the two main figures two playing Bacchus boys with a basket of grapes. Approx. 40 x 52 cm x 25 cm.
