Carl Wuttke (1849 Trebnitz - 1927 Munich) Morning mood at Salt Lake in Utah Wuttke's impressionistic landscape veduta, painted with subtly nuanced colouring, in which he captures the intense light and water phenomena at Salt Lake in Utah in a virtuoso manner. The painting was created in 1893 during a study trip Wuttke took through the USA; documented works also show motifs from Niagara Falls, Yellowstone Park and Brooklyn/New York. Wuttke studied in Berlin and Munich and was a pupil of Eugen Dücker at the Düsseldorf Academy of Art from 1877 to 1880. Wuttke's style with its spontaneous, loose style made him a pioneer of the Impressionists and Secessionists. Oil/wood panel. Signed lower right; dated "Salt Lake Utah 11 Oct. (18)93" lower left.
