LOUIS XIV PERIOD CARTEL Attributed to André-Charles Boulle In brown tortoiseshell and engraved brass marquetry, with chased and gilded bronze ornamentation, the dial with blue enamel cartouches, the blued steel hands, the movement striking the hours and a half on a count wheel signed "Boucheret AParis", 19th century anchor escapement, initially with a meeting wheel, the arched cornice resting on uprights, the upper part of which is decorated with bronze console-shaped motifs, the lower part decorated with scrolling motifs. H. 65.5 cm (25 ¾ in.) l. 43.5 cm (17 in.) P. 18 cm (7 in.) Daniel Boucheret, cited in the Brateau collection, rue Saint Germain; reception 8 August 1703. A Boucheret (perhaps the same one) also mentioned in the cloister of Saint Denis de la Chartre in Paris (cfr. Tardy, p. 70). A Louis XIV gilt-bronze mounted, tortoiseshell and brass inlaid cartel, attributed to André-Charles Boulle This cartel can be attributed to André-Charles Boulle on the basis of its association with engravings by Mariette after drawings by André-Charles Boulle. Our piece is similar to the Les Parques model attributed to André-Charles Boulle, a copy of which is in the collections of the Musée du Louvre (see D. Alcouffe, A. Dion-Tenenbaum, A.Lefébure, Le mobilier du Musée du Louvre, Editions Faton, Dijon, 1993, Vol. I, p. 101, fig. 30).
