CARTHAGE TERRACOTTA AMPHORA WITH GEOMETRIC DECORATION Ca. 300 - 100 BC. A fine wheel-thrown terracotta amphora of a substantial size with a protruding ring foot, a globular body with a rounded shoulder, a corseted neck, a flared, everted rim, and a pair of small strap handles on the wider part of the body. The cream-slipped body forms the chromatic ground atop which the red-orange pigment is applied in concentric bands. Size: 310mm x 240mm; Weight: 2.3kg. Provenance: Property of a London gallery, acquired on the German art market; Ex. collection of Brewern, Munich, since 1979. Accompanied by a German Export license.
