CARTIER MYSTERIOUS PRISM CIRCA 1980 20 micron rhodium-plated silver prism clock with decorative plates imitating lapis lazuli in the Art Deco style. CASE: rectangular, glazed on two sides. DIAL: white with baton hour-markers and blue-painted Arabic numerals, reflected and refracted by two prisms. MOVEMENT: quartz. Signed and numbered 91180563. Height: 10 cm, width: 9 cm, depth: 8 cm. WITH: case, certificate (blank) and instructions for use. Inspired by mysterious clocks, the Prisme clock reflects the prestige of the Art Deco period. This principle was invented in 1937 by watchmaker Gaston Cusin and patented by Cartier. The dial is visible only from certain angles, reflected through a series of crystal prisms, according to the principle of an underwater periscope. Condition report on request.
