Lot no. 115
ADRIAN HELMET MODEL 1926, WITH COLONIAL INFANTRY ATTRIBUTE FROM THE DE GAULLE FAMILY Blue repainted in green khaki; brown leather chinstrap (minor wear); black leather inner cap with six prongs (before 1940). Marked in white paint on the nape of the neck "682" and on the back "n° 773". Made by JAPY A. B. E. (Small blows). Historical background: The absence of the model 1929 anchor attribute, which became widespread from 1930, means that this helmet can be dated to around 1926-1930. After postings to Marshal Pétain's staff and then to the command of the 19th Battalion of Foot Chasseurs, Charles de Gaulle was posted in November 1929 to the Staff of the Troupes du Levant in Beirut, where he was in charge of the 2nd and 3rd offices (military intelligence and operations). Accompanied by his family, he remained there until January 1932. Provenance : - de Gaulle family
